The Family Day at Ignatius Prep and Primary School is an exciting and meaningful event that brings the entire school community closer together. This year’s family day was filled with laughter, bonding, and moments of reflection, as staff, parents, came together to celebrate the spirit of unity.
The day, Saturday 22nd of February 2025, began with our dedicated school staff coming together to prepare both the meals and the venue for the Mass and the social activities that followed. The sense of teamwork was palpable as everyone worked together to set the stage for a successful event. Their commitment ensured that the day would run smoothly, creating a welcoming environment for all.

Once everything was in place, we gathered for a heartfelt Mass. This spiritual moment allowed our community to reflect on the importance of family and togetherness, setting the tone for the rest of the day. It was a special time for everyone, with many finding comfort and joy in the shared experience of worship.

Following the Mass, the atmosphere shifted to one of fun and excitement as the entertainment and games began. Teachers and staff members participated in friendly competitions, showing off their skills and team spirit. The games were not only a source of entertainment but also a reminder of how important it is to have fun and engage with one another, creating lasting memories for everyone involved. As the norm during these festivities’ birthdays are celebrated for those born in January and in February, they cut the cake and they shared it with the rest of the family.
A highlight of the day was the speeches from our Deputy Teacher, Mr. Samuel Lemanya, Head Teacher, Sr Marietha Myeji Focas CSG, and Director, Fr Sammy Wafula SJ. Each one took a moment to express gratitude for the dedication of the staff and the involvement of the parents. Their words were an inspiring reminder of the vital role that both teachers and families play in shaping the school community. The Director also took this opportunity to acknowledge the contributions of everyone in attendance, reinforcing the sense of collective effort that makes Ignatius Prep and Primary School such a special place.

One of the most heartwarming moments of the day was the chance to welcome new faces into the Ignatius family. Several staff members introduced their family members, further strengthening the bond between the school and the families it serves. This gesture emphasized that the school is not just an institution for learning, but a supportive and welcoming community where everyone is valued.
The Family Day was a beautiful reminder of the power of connection, collaboration, and fun, everyone left with smiles on their faces and hearts full of gratitude. It reinforced the idea that the Ignatius Prep and Primary School community is a family, united by a shared commitment to the growth and well-being of each pupil.
