31st July 2025 was the celebration of Ignatius Day, which is celebrated every year all around the world. The day commemorates the life and work of St Ignatius of Loyola, the founder of the Society of Jesus (Jesuits). It is a very significant day for the Jesuits and the wider Ignatian Community, marked by celebrations, reflections and re-commitment to his teachings.
Ignatius Prep and Primary School, being one of the Jesuit Schools, took part in this annual and universal commemoration as it does in all years. All the pupils and working staff took part in celebrating this memorable day, each individual as a part of the Ignatius Family.
The day began with a Holy Mass, which was celebrated by Fr. Wilbroad H. Kibozi, the Bishop of the Archdiocese of Dodoma, in company with the School Director, Fr. Sammy Wafula SJ, and other priests. In his Homily, Rev. Bishop Kibozi briefly recounted the life of St. Ignatius from his early days as a soldier, his spiritual conversion, and his spiritual activities.

The pupils had the chance to show the Bishop and other invited guests some of the academic skills they learn at school, including the science experiments and exhibitions, and digital learning as pupils demonstrated learning lessons through the use of tablets.

The invited guests had the time to get entertained by different groups of pupils through poems, traditional dances, songs and bible verses.

The guest of honour, Rev. Bishop W.H.Kibozi addressed the Ignatian Community and emphasized on the value of reflecting on one’s life and having spiritual exercises. Moreover he urged the pupils to use the education they get at school to build the better and sustainable society in the future.
