Embracing the Season of Lent: Ash Wednesday Mass at Ignatius Prep and Primary School

ippsadmin 0

St. Ignatius Preparatory and Primary School solemnly marked the beginning of the Lenten season with a reverent Ash Wednesday Mass, gathering pupils, staff, and members of the school community in prayer and reflection. Ash Wednesday ushers in the sacred season of Lent—a time of repentance, renewal, and spiritual growth in the Catholic tradition.

During the celebration, the faithful received ashes on their foreheads in the sign of the cross, a powerful symbol of humility and the call to conversion. The liturgy invited the school community to reflect on prayer, fasting, and almsgiving as meaningful practices throughout the Lenten journey. Through scripture readings, hymns, and a reflective homily, pupils were encouraged to examine their hearts and renew their commitment to living out Gospel values.

Rooted in the Ignatian tradition inspired by Ignatius of Loyola, the celebration emphasised self-discipline, generosity, and care for others. The Ash Wednesday Mass set a reflective and hopeful tone for the weeks ahead, guiding students to grow spiritually as compassionate and responsible members of the community.
